Here are some sites I use to check wind for Sauvies Island and the Gorge. I'm cheap so I am always looking for the free stuff and it seems like ikitesurf has scaled back on the free wind readings.

Any other resources you'd recommend.

Great list danimal!

The two places to watch this time of year are for Easterlies at Rooster Rock or SW winds on the Coast.

For Rooster Rock look for 5+ mph east at Troutdale, if its 10mph or more that means Rooster Rock will be 20mph or more. You can also check the Portland Airport, if that's blowing then you can head out to the spot on Marine Drive (check KiteBeaches.com for directions.)

Here's another great free site that lists all the public sensors and their current and past readings:

http://nwwind.net

Gorge: http://nwwind.net/wind.php?region=300
Oregon: http://nwwind.net/wind.php?st=OR

All the stations I am fetching show on the "state" reports, e.g. http://nwwind.net/wind.php?st=OR, if there is a station that you like to check and it's not on there let me know, I'll see if I can add it. Sorry iWindsurf is not an option

Also if you think another "report" would be good let me know, the reports are easy to create and tweak. I'm thinking a Kalama/Suavies list might be useful but I'm not sure what stations, my guess is

Olympia
Chehalis
Longview
Scappose
Portland
Salem

Mike,

Nice site, a Sauvies/Kalama report would be good, at a minimum:
Kelso, Scapoose, Portand,

A west gorge (e.g. east winds) report would be good.

Thanks!

Including scappoose would be great for SI kiters.

As long as we are forming the wishlist I think a sensor for Jones would be great if ones available.

The only resource I know of for that is Mcleans nweather's forcasts.

Does anyone know of a free sensor?

Mike -
I hope you don't mind but I linked your site to "Wind Sensors" at the top of each page (I linked specifically to the Oregon page.)

Thanks again for the resource!

No prob

Ok, per the requests I added a Jones report and a Sauvies. I figure the Western Gorge is already covered by the current Gorge report. I did add Rooster Rock to the Gorge list, which should help on the east days
