Hell of a storm!

I daresay I witnessed some of the highest gusts I've ever seen in the gorge. I stepped outside at 2 AM when my backup generator kicked on to check on some danger trees here in Underwood. I was in bathrobe and slippers - felt like it was 60F! Just then a freight train of a gust convinced me to jump in the van to go sleep in a nearby clearing - I guesstimate it was ~80 MPH! Event Site reading shows ~63 MPH microburst at that time, so up here at elevation it was likely over 70. I heard two trees drop in the nearby forest (confirmed this morning), but nothing threatened the house like it did last year (pictured). Hope everyone fared OK!

Thanks @Nak! Turns out there were some nasty building casualties in Hood River Heights, and a nearby house in Underwood had a widowmaker penetrate a kitchen ceiling a few feet from a gentleman who was looking out the window to check on the situation. No human casualties, fortunately. Neighbor's weather station confirmed the microburst I felt was 77 MPH, and there were many record-breaking gusts measured nearby.

I dropped four white firs this morning to de-risk being crushed in my house, though the winds have yet to materialize here this time around. Merry Christmas!

P.S. LMK if anyone's looking for firewood in the Underwood area...
