Welcome to the Hood River Event Site!
ATTENTION
Launching and landing from the grass will continue through the high-water period only with everyone’s COOPERATION AND FOLLOWING THESE RULES:
NO PUMPING OF KITES, RIGGING OF LINES OR ROLLING UP LINES IN THE LAUNCH AND LANDING ZONE NORTH OF THE LAST LINE OF CONES!
Pump and dry your kite south of the first line of cones ONLY!
When you’re ready to launch – have your wetsuit and harness on and ARE READY TO GO – lay out your lines between the two lines of cone, THEN bring your kite over, connect it and proceed to launch ASAP. Volunteers and locals will guide you and help you launch at the WEST END of the kiting area.
When you land, come in at the EAST END of the kiting area, have someone land your kite and you or they will carry if up to the lawn PAST the cones, where you can wrap up your lines. NO WRAPPING LINES IN THE LAUNCH AND LANDING AREA!
If we all follow these rules and procedure we can keep the grass open for launching and landing until the sandbar reappears.
Remember that launching from the grass is intended for ADVANCED AND EXPERIENCED KITERS ONLY. If you’re unsure of your ability, DO NOT launch from the grass since it could cause a hazard and perhaps injury to yourself or others.
Finally, be kind, be cooperative, follow the rules, watch out for kites landing and launching and help land and launch kites if you’re able.
THANKS FROM THE PORT OF HOOD RIVER! |
