Tue Mar 01, 05 2:01 pm Best Winter Spots Near Portland |

With the low river level, Rooster is obviously a choice spot, but normally this isn't the case in winter.
I have been to Lagoons once in December, I hear it goes all winter anytime the tides are right and there is an East Wind.
Anywhere else? What about during the BIG EAST, any Marine Drive spots, I would think they would be far too gusty.
Maybe Dalton is the best spot when the water is high...
What do you think |

We were just out at Rooster last weekend... my first session of the year (at home in Oregon at least) so naturally I was stoked. It was pretty damn windy, guys were just hanging on to 9m's, some were out on 6m with short lines even. My 7m with short lines was great.
Had a 4/3 wetsuit and 2m windshirt, booties, gloves, hood, etc.
Rooster is great because its got a long beach, and fairly smooth water (considering how windy it is at least.) Only draw back is its usually nuking and pretty gusty... I am usually on my 7m or 10m when I am there. |

Not many babes at Rooster this time of year, or ever for that matter. |
