What do people think about impact harnesses? Is an impact harness with integrated harness worth getting? Is it too cumbersome? I know it is not a PFD but wouldn't it help if you had to make the long swim back in?

I found they worked pretty well, but last year I switched to a dakine pyro harness. The Pyro's construction is a little more supportive and also lighter when wet. If they re-do the impact harness to have a similar construction I think I'd switch back.

The impact's float you pretty well, it took me awhile to get used to having to swim up after big crashes with my pyro where as before I'd just float. Also makes self rescuing a bit easier.

Just make sure you get one that feels almost one size too small when you try it on dry, they stretch in the water. Thumb's Up
